50th Street West is a block in the capital where a bunch of cobblers, bathhouse workers, soup vendors, prostitutes, and trash collectors live. They all like to daydream, and they’re full of nonsense, which they spout in their dreams. Tormented by their dreams and their constant blather, they all become mentally deranged, turning into bunch of crazy people and fools. In order to cure themselves, they all leave 50th Street West and travel a great distance to some other place. They begin to risk everything by exchanging their gallbladders, livers, hearts, and lungs, as well as their blood and even their whole selves. But after becoming these new people, they discover that what they’re saying is still the same old nonsense.
